Over the past 4 years, we have photographed hundreds of pets, and not one has been the same!

Our vision for this website is to showcase the charisma of a huge variety of dogs, offering professional photography services and the ability to purchase prints. All of this can be done right here within the realms of the one website.

Getting that Right shot:

You know your pet’s personality better than anyone. This is why Best Friend Portraits will discuss all options and possibilities with you- the owner, to capture your pet’s character.

Breed, Habits, Interests, Daily routines and Interactivity make up the personality of your pet. We discuss these in detail with you and also seek your creative input as to the best possible environment options.

Your Home.

We are a fully mobile studio service and prefer to come to your home for the photo shoot. Your pet is in familiar surroundings and will feel so much more comfortable, enabling them to relax or play up and generally be themselves- which is complete reason for capturing them in their natural state. Being a studio ready setup, major photographic factors can be controlled and maintain consistent final product results.

Lighting is the best reason for studio portraits. The mood and style of your desired portrait can be easily attained through the use of multiple studio flash lighting and natural or propped backdrops. If you’re lucky enough to have some large windows, we can often use the natural light available to great effect.

Our Home Studio

We have finished our home based studio. Located in a newly purchased and renovated home, our studio features Dark Chocolate Tiled floors, which are easy to clean! A separate side entrance enables quick and easy access into the 7m x 4m Studio room.

Outdoors.                   

Some breeds of pets are hence completely at home in the outdoors. Working dogs, Retrievers, Assistance dogs, Hunters, Farm Cats and obviously Horses all relish in the great outdoors. Capturing wonderful portraits in these naturally lit, naturally decorated environments provide some of the best photo opportunities available.

Equipment:

Best Friend Portraits brings to you all the necessary photographic equipment required for your pet’s portrait. Just as photographing people requires specific lighting and exposures, your pet is no different. What makes your pet’s portrait stand out is the many different nuances and attention to details in the initial shoot.

Careful planning prior to the photo shoot will determine what equipment we will most likely utilise for your session.

Processing:

All processing is done in the RAW format to preserve maximum quality and maintain your portrait’s fine detail. After the initial shoot all files are screened for quality and prepared for proof viewing.

We will then organise for you to view the photos and select you favourite portraits. This can be done right here on our website. View, select and order. Simple and flexible.

Selected files are then processed in Adobe Lightroom and finalised for printing and delivered to your door.
